TATSFIELD (Inghilterra), 11 febbraio – John Surtees è nato a Tatsfield, nel Surrey, a circa 30 km a sud di Londra, l’11 febbraio del 1934 ed è morto a Londra il 10 marzo 2017. Caso unico nella storia il “Figlio del Vento” ha vinto i mondiali sia sulle due (tre volte in Classe 350 nel 1958, 1959, 1960 e in Classe 500 nel 1956, 1958, 1959, 1960, sempre su MV Agusta) sia sulle quattro ruote nel 1964 su Ferrari. Figlio di un concessionario di motociclette (il padre Jack vinse il South Eastern Center Sidecar), si sposò tre volte ed ebbe tre figli dalla terza moglie Jane Sparrow. John Surtees morì il 10 marzo del 2017 per problemi respiratori e riposa nella chiesa San Pietro e Paolo nel Surrey, accanto al figlio Henry morto per un incidente in una gara di Formula 2.
